We Choose Virtues - TOS Review

We Choose Virtues is a character education program for Early Childhood through Early Elementary.  I was very excited to try these and to learn how simple they are to use and implement.  I really needed these for Noodle.  For the purpose of this review I received the Virtue Clues Cards, The Teacher Handbook (which is very colorful, but I printed it all out anyway!), and a Virtueville Coloring book in a PDF download.  Additionally, in a PDF download format I received the Family Character Assessment and a list of memory verses.

The cards are cute, colorful, sturdy and they come in a nice little vinyl pouch.  The characters featured on the card have cute and catchy names like Piggy Bank Frank and Feather Heather.  The program teaches kids 12 different virtues: Self Control, Forgiveness, Obedience, Patience, Honesty, Kindness, Attentiveness, Contentment, Perseverance, Gentleness, Helpfulness, and Diligence.  The cards explain what the virtue means and doesn't mean.

Before beginning Noodle and I filled out the character assessment.  I thought this was a great visual and a good tool for getting us to think about how we behave.  The teacher handbook was very helpful in teaching about virtues and was full of good ideas and simple ways to explain character qualities. We enjoyed a game of "Eye Spy" while learning how to focus.  Noodle liked the cards, but since he isn't a big fan of coloring he balked a little at the coloring pages. 

We enjoyed the introduction to this program so much that we are going to continue with it and I will be ordering the 100 Days of Virtue sticker chart. We Choose Virtues also has programs for older kids (12-18) and even a parent set of cards.
